Senior Tax Manager-Federal

Job Description
- Oversees the U.S. federal tax compliance process.
- Supports the U.S. federal tax provision process including the current and deferred provision for the U.S. entities, documenting, and maintaining all the U.S. federal uncertain tax positions, and analysis of U.S. federal tax attributes.
- Directs the preparation of work papers and tax returns to ensure compliance with federal laws and regulations. Responsible for writing tax memos in order to document the Company's tax positions when appropriate.
- Interpret and provide guidance on any new U.S. federal tax laws that impact the tax return or the provision.
- Analyzes and reviews accounting books and records to determine tax issues and recommends solutions based on findings.
- Directs any change of accounting methods for the Company which drives significant cost savings to the Company.
- Provides advice and counsel on audit settlement opportunities and strategy. Serves as a resource to the Audit Team leaders for both federal and state taxes in resolving audit issues.
- Coordinates with the other tax department team members to provide support for U.S. federal matters, including, for example transfer pricing, to ensure contemporaneous documentation aligned with filing of the tax returns.
- Serves as the primary contact for the U.S. Internal Revenue Service (“IRS”) in managing our U.S. federal controversy and ongoing audits.
- Manage both U.S. cash taxes and global cash taxes for quarterly reporting and planning.
- Manage and develop direct and indirect reports.
- Collaborate with director peers to show leadership to the tax team and collectively help drive team initiatives.
- Hiring, training, and retaining skilled accounting staff.
Successful Candidate Profile
- [8]+ years of experience in public accounting, corporate tax or accounting at a firm, or company operating in a complex, corporate environment required. Experience with national public accounting firm is preferred.
- A proven track record with interpreting tax laws, technical documents and government regulations.
- Adept at managing controversy and interacting with the IRS.
- Experience interpreting and communicating technical tax issues to non-technical internal or external clients.
- Experience in managing outside resources and budget-related issues.
- Strong technical accounting skills, specifically related to accounting for income tax.
- Experience planning, developing, and managing departmental expense and capital budgets.
- Proven record of directly managing people, including hiring, developing, motivating, and directing people as they work.
- Strong academic credentials, including a degree in accounting. A graduate degree and /or a CPA designation is required, with fluency in accounting and oversight.
