Job Overview/Summary
- Conduct risk-based monitoring and compliance assurance reviews across all aspects of sponsored research.
- Reviews focus on assessing the effectiveness of research administration practices which include but are not limited to financial compliance, scientific quality and accuracy, training, monitoring, response to detected problems, and balancing the regulatory burden.
- Review and test compliance with institutional policies and procedures, applicable laws and regulations through the inspection of physical operations, retrieval and review of documents and investigation of irregularities and errors.
- Perform directed reviews or investigations requested by university leadership or internal or external oversight bodies.
- Compile information and/or prepare reports and analyses communicating review results with appropriate recommendations to key stakeholders; perform follow-up to ensure complete and appropriate corrective action within risk tolerance parameters.
- Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein.
Successful Candidate Profile
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, business administration or a related field is required. CPA, CIA, or other relevant professional certification is strongly preferred. Industry recognized sponsored research certification or designation will be considered favorably.
- Minimum five years’ relevant sponsored program administration, regulatory compliance, audit, or consulting experience required. Experience working in an academic medical center, college and university or not-for-profit setting desired.
- Detail oriented. Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong oral and written communication skills as well as relationship management capabilities.
- Ability to meet deadlines and prioritize multiple tasks.
- Experience with sponsored research management systems (i.e. SPS, SAP, eCRT) and electronic workpaper application experience preferred.
